The digital piano has many advantages over an acoustic model and is acceptable for graded exam work.These include:
1. No tuning, servicing or maintenance
2. Use of headphones
3. Has the option to be connected to your PC for multimedia
4. Outputs to external amplification
5. Can be easily moved.
6. Better value for money as you get more sound for your pound!
A lot of confusion exists with these products. The problem arises because it is not until someone has played a digital piano that they understand the difference between a digital piano and a keyboard.
The easiest way to explain those differences are as follows. A digital piano has 88 keys, the keybed is weighted, some with a hammer action, and most have a small number of voices (sounds) - although some models will feature many voices with the addition of automatic accompaniments.
